A new week … a new beer!

I was looking at my list today to make sure I didn’t repeat something … especially since my list is so long now … and I realized I hadn’t had the Achel Brown yet.  What a travesty!  So, I cracked one open and began sampling …. yes!  Wow, what a nice beer.  This is a good brown … if you get a chance, go for it!

On a side note, I went to the Porsche museum today in Stuttgart.  I highly recommend that too if you get the chance.

Another Belgian Night! Wooo Hooo!

I went over to my friend’s house tonight and took a few of my Belgian beers with me.  This was the first time he (and his wife) had ever had Belgian beers, so it was a fun evening.   I brought a Westvleteren, an Achel, a Westmalle, an Orval, and a Chimay.  We had a rip-roaring good time capped off with some Rock Band – Beatles style.  Yeah!  Since this was my 80th beer in a row, I went with the “Chimay Bruin.”  Mmmmm mmmm … mighty tasty!

You may notice the pictures are in my room … I forgot to take this one with me to my friend’s house (LOL). I had the Chimay Tripel … and came back to my room and had this one … it was a Big Belgian Night!

Relaxing tonight … enjoying another Zwiefalten

Tonight I decided to have another Zwiefalten Kloster ale — this one is their unfiltered, “cellar beer” … the Zwiefalten Abt.  I really like the unfiltered beers … this one was no exception.  Plus it comes in a cool flip-top bottle AND I own the exact glass with which to enjoy it! Yes!

I feel good … uh huh … let’s Karaoke!

Yes!  I felt well enough today to get out and do a little Karaoke; oh, and I sang a few Phillipino Songs too … of course, I don’t have any pictures or video of this, but I bet if you search on youtube it will be out there somewhere!  What beer did I choose to celebrate my wellness … the only beer they had that I haven’t had on my list yet: Kilkenny.  It was good…

2nd day of recovery from a cold … how about a Fireside?

I definitely had a cold this week, so I’ve been milking it along … trying to recover but also keep up my streak.  I decided to have a Leinenkugel’s Fireside Nut Brown Ale.  One of the lower alcohol content beers I still have in the room … I think by tomorrow I should be well on the road to recovery … plus, I like a good American Ale anyway! LOL

Whew … I don’t feel good, think I’ll have a Radler

I’ve been a little under the weather, so I think I will simply have a Radler to keep up my streak.  This is a 1/2 beer, 1/2 “sprite” mix … it has 2.5% alcohol.  This will help me recover … hopefully!

75 down … can he make it?!?

I made it to 75 different beers in 75 days.  Wow has this been tough.  Just keeping up to speed with it has caused me to gain about 6 lbs … maybe part of it was the German food, too … but I’m claiming it is this effort.  So …. I think I will stop at 90 beers in 90 days so I’m not some fat slob at the end.  You have to have some limits, right? LOL

Today’s beer was a Krombacher Pilsner.  Nothing fancy — just a nice, drinkable beer.

Whoa — I needed a day off!

Today I just chilled out in my room … I ran myself down a little last week — too many activities.  However I did find the time to enjoy one beer today: Schlappeseppel Special.

Schlappeseppel is a brewery that traces its beer history to 1631.  I guess they know how to brew beer!   Oh, and it was a good beer … it was selected as the beer of the year for 2009 by the ProBier-Club of Germany.

Hobbykochkurs Schlachtfest!

On Friday I was in my former village hanging out with my wonderful friends at the Hobby Cooking Club’s local “Schlachtfest.”  Each year they butcher several pigs (this year it was 4) to raise money for their organization and the local Catholic Church.

This year I had the pleasure of coming back to the fest and continuing my membership in the club–for the first time in 10 years!  So, I put on my chef’s outfit, helped serve out the fresh schweinefleisch und bratwurst, and topped it off with a few tunes on my bagpipes!

The highlight of the evening was a homemade beer made by the cooking club — the Antonius Brau.  A one of a kind brew — and since I was drinking it at 1 am on Saturday morning … it’s the beer for Saturday!  I hope to follow up this post with some pictures from the fest.
