I’ve been a little under the weather, so I think I will simply have a Radler to keep up my streak. This is a 1/2 beer, 1/2 “sprite” mix … it has 2.5% alcohol. This will help me recover … hopefully!

I made it to 75 different beers in 75 days. Wow has this been tough. Just keeping up to speed with it has caused me to gain about 6 lbs … maybe part of it was the German food, too … but I’m claiming it is this effort. So …. I think I will stop at 90 beers in 90 days so I’m not some fat slob at the end. You have to have some limits, right? LOL
Today’s beer was a Krombacher Pilsner. Nothing fancy — just a nice, drinkable beer.
Today I just chilled out in my room … I ran myself down a little last week — too many activities. However I did find the time to enjoy one beer today: Schlappeseppel Special.
Schlappeseppel is a brewery that traces its beer history to 1631. I guess they know how to brew beer! Oh, and it was a good beer … it was selected as the beer of the year for 2009 by the ProBier-Club of Germany.

On Friday I was in my former village hanging out with my wonderful friends at the Hobby Cooking Club’s local “Schlachtfest.” Each year they butcher several pigs (this year it was 4) to raise money for their organization and the local Catholic Church.
This year I had the pleasure of coming back to the fest and continuing my membership in the club–for the first time in 10 years! So, I put on my chef’s outfit, helped serve out the fresh schweinefleisch und bratwurst, and topped it off with a few tunes on my bagpipes!
The highlight of the evening was a homemade beer made by the cooking club — the Antonius Brau. A one of a kind brew — and since I was drinking it at 1 am on Saturday morning … it’s the beer for Saturday! I hope to follow up this post with some pictures from the fest.

Tonight (actually this morning) we’ve been enjoying a few pints at the Irish Pub in Garmisch. I decided to count this as my Friday beer to take the pressure off myself. Sometimes you have to pace yourself, and this is one of those instances … so, a 2 am Guinness on a Friday? Heck yeah!

Yes, another night in Garmisch, another Dunkel. This time I went with the Augustiner Brauerei Dunkel. Of all the Dunkels I’ve had this week, this one is the best. If you are going to go with any of the previous four, stop with this one. You will enjoy it!

This evening we ate dinner at a restaurant in Mittenwald — it is right across the street from the Privat Mittenwald Brauerei. They have a nice bock bier: Josefi Bock Dunkel — I guess I’ve been on a Dunkel kick lately.
Although I was by the brewery, unfortunately it was dark and cold, so I didn’t get a good look (or any pictures) at the Brewery.

I’m beginning to see a trend for me … a leaning toward darker beers. This evening we went for a torch-lit stroll through the Partnach Gorge and followed the walk with dinner at the Partnach Klamm Restaurant. I felt a strong urge to stay with the Dunkel, so I had a Paulaner “Original Munchner Dunkel.”

As promised, I went with the Hacker Pschorr Dunkel … for some reason it wasn’t as good as I thought it was. I “think” that maybe the taps at the Edelweiss Resort need to be cleaned — it kind of had that not good coming out of the taps taste …at least the views are nice!

Well this was a new beer today … but it wasn’t that great. I thought I could expect a little more from Hacker-Pschorr. I did try the Dunkles and it was excellent. I will try it again tomorrow and add it as my next brew.
